So today’s article addresses what exactly a mogul is *and* I have a quiz (just like Cosmo!) for you to take to determine if you’re a Hot Mogul. “Are You a Hot Mogul? Take the Quiz and Find Out”

So first of all, what exactly is a mogul? Dictionary.com gives us this definition:

An important, powerful, or influential person: A very rich or powerful person; a magnate. a mogul of the movie industry.

I heard Kimora Lee Simmons (Baby Phat) use it in the intro to her reality show. She said something like “I’m a model, a mogul and a mom.” I liked how it sounded so I looked it up. It’s become something of a game amongst my friends, “let’s be Hot Moguls” ~ we added “doing work we love and giving back to the world in a MAJOR way.”

Take my quiz to find out if you’re already a Hot Mogul or if you’re on your way to getting there. Once you’ve tallied your points, I’ve got some tips for developing your Hot Mogul-ness. How do you know if you’re a Hot Mogul? Take this quiz and find out!

1. Arriving at your company or favorite charity’s holiday party, you:
   a. Make a mad dash to the hors d'oeuvres table and hide in the corner eating crab cakes with remoulade sauce.
   b. Sign in with a group of friends and head in together to check out the crowd.
   c. Walk confidently up to the sign-in table and introduce yourself to the person in charge.
   d. Let everyone else enter, while you hang back a little - wait for the perfect moment - throw open the double-doors and strike a confident pose, smiling & making eye contact as you scan the room, making the most of your fabulous entry.

In fact, I’d love to interview you for my database and promote your _____ (book, movie, album) to my list.”


3. You get an inspiring idea for a new business. You:
   a. Immediately dismiss it as a ridiculous and impossible pipe dream.
   b. Call your mom to see what she thinks about it.
   c. Check your to-do list, blackberry, calendar to see if you have time and/or energy to spare.
   d. Get online and register a catchy domain immediately and email your attorney to add the corporate filing to your growing list of companies.


4. You have a season pass on your TIVO for:
   a. Entourage
   b. Kimora: Life in the Fab Lane
   c. The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch
   d. All of the above (hey, variety is the spice of life)


5. The late-night text you’re most likely to get reads:

SCORING: Give yourself 0 points for all a answers, 1 point for b, 2 points for c, 3 points for d, and 10 points for e.

Wow! You’re putting yourself out there in a BIG way. People are drawn to your magnetic personality and your business sense is spot on! To keep your Hot Mogul-ness blossoming, try adding some B.A.L.L.S. to the mix (relax~, that stands for Belief, Authenticity, Livin’-out-Loud, Liciousness and Super-Hero). 3 Tips for Developing your Inner Mogul:

1. Be Brave and Daring: When you feel those butterflies zooming around your belly, you know you’re on the right track. Take a deep breath and channel your favorite Hot Mogul (Richard Branson, Oprah, J-Lo??? Who else qualifies in your mind?)


2. Take a Chance, Take a Chance: Good things come to those who wait, but not to those who wait too late! It’s good to weigh your options, but sometimes you just gotta JUMP! And the net will appear. Hot Moguls take calculated risks and learn from all of their experiences, the good, the bad and the ugly.


3. Don’t Stop Thinkin’ About Tomorrow: No matter what, keep going, keep taking steps in the direction of your dreams. Keep moving toward your Big Vision. Yes, there will be obstacles. The Universe will test you. It’s really asking: “Are you sure you want this?” Your only job is to keep going, do not stop, stay connected to that wise place inside of you that knows the next step. Then go Take Action.
